Market weight of pigs continues to increase in the industry. Heavier weights have been achieved through genetics, nutrition and housing systems and brings more gross revenue for producers. However, with an increase in market weights it is important to consider changes in floor space allowances, nutrition programs, feeder and waterer design and transportation in order to optimize performance and welfare.
